A little about Createch Academies
It began with a very simple question from a former colleague of mine. Suddenly a light bulb went on. That’s how it all started.
A couple of decades later, we continue to go from strength to strength. Each summer brings us some new (and returning) inquisitive minds. They love the collaboration and the camaraderie. They really learn to pull together and work as a team as the minutes tick past. It is truly magical to see them work so amazingly outside of the curriculum.
And that’s what keeps us coming back to the idea of making a film from scratch.
As soon as we release our summer package of dates and venues, we get some very excited young people (and their parents!) contacting us. This year is no exception.

Chris has taught Drama, Media, Film and English (oh, and even some History, PSHE and Citizenship) in secondary schools across Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Berkshire, Hampshire and London for over 30 years.
He has been a university lecturer, Head of Faculty and an Advanced Skills Teacher across many settings, but having a camera, some young people, a set of crazy ideas and huge problems to solve, is what excites him. Even after all this time. Seeing young people grow and thrive through creativity is a pleasure unequalled.
I’ll leave it to Jean-Luc Godard to sum up my feelings about cinema: “A story should have a beginning, middle and an end, but not necessarily in that order.”
